Is it an abomination to be prosperous?

Dispelling the Ignorance to Wealth, Health and Prosperity

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3rd John 2

What is prosperity? Prosperity is the state of material or spiritual bountifulness. The term “prosper” means to succeed or thrive (flourish, blossom, or increase). According to Psalm 1:3, it is promised to the righteous. By right, both spiritual and material wealth belongs to the children of God. The Bible confirms that prosperity is a gift from God. The gifts, or blessings of God comes in both spiritual and material form. Look at Ecclesiastes 5:18, 19 Also, every man to whom God has given riches and possessions, and the power to enjoy them and to accept his appointed lot and to rejoice in his toil—this is a gift from God. Who gives riches and possessions? This scripture makes it perfectly clear that GOD is the Giver of riches and possessions. Although we are to seek out heavenly treasures, as we exercise them, material blessings will follow. They may come through the works of our hands, gifts and talents, success, people, and more than anything through obedience.

The word of God says my Father is rich in houses and land. A cattle on a thousand hills belongs to Him and all the silver and gold. The earth is His and the fullness thereof. So guess what that means. If they belong to God then they belong to you and I. We are heirs and joint heirs to the throne. The term prosper is mentioned 49 times in the Bible. The term prosperity is mentioned 17 times in the Bible. So, why do some people have a problem with the word prosperity? Simply put, the problem is religion and the lack of knowledge of the will of God concerning prosperity. Many have been brainwashed by doctrines of religions that teaches they are to live poor because Jesus was poor, so they falsely proclaim. It is a show of humility so they think. At the mention of the word prosperity and wealth, their mind thinks “money.” They get frustrated behind message of prosperity and criticize those who walk therein. They act as though the word itself is a cuss word or a sin. They think they are supposed to live life settling for less than what God promised in His word being totally ignorant to Proverbs 15:6 which states, in the house of the righteous is much treasure. We are rich in all things to include the spiritual things of God. We are seated in heavenly places with access to all of these spiritual treasures, giftings and callings. Walking obediently in our purpose or calling brings us into a state of wealth and prosperity.

So, why do people have a problem with prosperity and wealth? They don’t have a clear understanding of the cross, the benefits and privileges awarded them at salvation. They don’t know who they are and what they have in Christ. Yet, there are many scriptures that reveal God’s promises concerning prosperity for his people. The Bible says:

In the house of the righteous is much treasure. Proverbs 15:6
By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches. Proverbs 22:4
And the Lord thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand…Deuteronomy 30:9
And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods…Deut. 28
The Lord shall open up unto thee his good treasure…Deut. 28
Every man also to whom God has given riches and wealth, and has given him power to eat thereof…Ecclesiastes 5:19
Riches and honor are with me; yea durable riches…Proverbs 8:18, 19
Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endures forever. Psalm 112:3
And they shall build houses, and inhabit them;
They shall not labor, in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the Lord, and their offspring with them. Isaiah 65:21-23.
And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee if thou shall hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God. Blessed shall thy be…Deuteronomy 28:2-6

Open the Bible, read the Word and see that we are blessed with abundance of scriptures concerning wealth. These scriptures do not depict God as desiring us to have enough just to get by. He wants us to live in abundance. God ordain for us to have the best—His best for us. As a man think in his heart so is he. If you think you are suppose to be poor then you will be just that—poor and never coming into the fullness of the promises of God for you. Instead of walking in the truth of the Word and what it says about us some people continue to allow themselves to be held hostage to a poverty mindset. They stay in Egypt and there they die because they hold fast to doctrines of men that teach against prosperity. The word of God is truth. God doesn’t lie. If the Bible says you are rich, then so be it. All you need to do is believe it and it will eventually manifest in the natural. In the meantime, find your shine. Wherever your shine is, that is where your prosperity lies. It’s in your shine.

It is the dear will of God for man to be rich. God holds no good thing from man. Ecclesiastes 5:19 says every man also to whom God has given riches and wealth, and has given man the power to eat thereof, and take his portion, and to rejoice in his labor; this is a gift from God.
John, in a letter to Gaius says, “I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health.” He went on to say, “I have no greater joy than to hear my children walk in the truth.” Here, you see the heart of God in John. This is what God wants for us. He wants us to walk in prosperity and good physical health. He wants us to walk in the truth of His Word concerning these graces. We should believe what God says about us in his Word. We should believe that we are who God’s Word says we are. We should believe that we have what the Bible says we have.

We’ve already discussed the definition of prosperity. Now, what is health? Health is the body freed from disease. Is God talking to himself in this scripture? No. Is he talking to heaven? No. Is he talking to the angels? No. He is talking to us. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We already know that poverty and sickness is not going on in heaven. If it’s not going on there, then it is not His perfect will for it here on earth.

There are people whom God has raised up to walk in prosperity, health and great wealth who suffer persecution for doing so. Where did they get their abundance from? The answer is God. The blessings of the Lord made them rich and the carnal man in turn, adds sorrow with it through criticism, ridicule, harassment, false accusation, and so on. Again, God gives it to us and brings no sorrow with it. Who brings sorrow with it? Man. Those who walk in it honestly can truly declare Proverbs 8:18, 19. Riches and honor are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver as along as they don’t forget God.

As you hear negative reactions to prosperity, it should make you wonder why do the very words spoken out of God’s heart concerning prosperity become nonexistent in the hearts of men? Is it because they walk not in the Spirit? If they walked in the spirit, they would understand God’s will concerning prosperity. It comes from God.
Proof of that is found in many scriptures to include Proverbs 10:22, the blessing of the Lord maketh rich, and He adds no sorrow with it. According to Deuteronomy 8:18, it is He who gives us power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore unto your fathers, as it is this day. The power is within the children of God to obtain wealth. Go get it. Multiply, have dominion and subdue. You can’t do this if you remain bound up in doctrines of men that keep you in a poverty mindset. Release yourself from doctrines of men that brainwash you with a poverty doctrine. God is not a poor God. He is a rich God. There is nothing that a rich God won’t do for an obedient child.

A transformation must take place in the mind of a poverty mindset. You must change your way of thinking. Your eyes are on man and not the Giver. Look beyond flesh, look to the Giver and see the abundance He has for you. As long as you sit back, criticize and cause havoc, you are as the wicked. Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covers the mouth of the wicked. Proverbs 10:6. Just as satan will not come up against his own kingdom neither will the kingdom of God come up against its own. But, we children of God come up against one another. Whose side are you on?

The sad thing is when you side with wickedness in high places (the world system) that attack righteous leaders and not being spiritually discerning and can’t recognize the work of satan against the body of Christ. God tempered the body to be caring, supportive and dependent on one another. Spiritual leaders need to put aside petty jealousies towards prosperous leaders and come together like the Early Church and model them. Acts 4:33-35. As you can see, America is falling and the Church needs to come together and become empowered. God’s intent was never division among us. Never side with the world system against a spiritual leader when you know what the word of God says. The world system does not want God’s people to be prosperous. God says touch not mine anointed and do my prophets no harm.

There are many prosperous role models in biblical times. God hasn’t changed his mind about prosperity. There are still role models today. They exist today as shepherds, laypersons, etc. God places them in the earth and use them as distributors of wealth. God set forth prosperous leaders in the earth for men to follow. God showers men with wealth because he trusts them to empower others and educate them on how to obtain wealth.

He trust them to share it with others and show others how to become rich themselves. There is no harm in having a private jet, a million dollar home, six cars, real estate property, land, empire, fine clothes, etc. Just make sure you have a personal relationship with God to go along with your riches. As long as you remember to do good with what God has given you by dealing your bread to the poor, seeing about the homeless and others who are without, and provide resources for them to better themselves, then you are in line with God’s intent for the use of wealth.

Scriptures do mention the dangers of prosperity. Anyone behind the pulpit who abuses wealth and scheme like the wicked to get it will suffer a downfall. Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathers by labor shall increase. Proverbs 13:11. God placed shepherds in our midst to lead us and guide us. I don’t particularly care for being under a broke pastor because whatever anointing is on him will flow down to me. I don’t particularly want a broke anointing. I desire a prosperous anointing. In knowing God’s will for prosperity, it is only common sense to get under a leadership that manifests God’s original intent.
If the spirit of prosperity is upon him or her then so be it the will of God as my soul prospers under that leadership both spiritually and materially. And because my spirit man is being fed the right nutrients and I see fruit, I don’t care how many jets or Bentleys and bling he or she possesses. Abraham, Isaac, Hezekiah, Job, Solomon were rich in possessions, so what’s the difference. Like Reverend Ike says, You can’t lose with the stuff I (he) use.” I can truly say personally that I can’t lose with the anointing that the leadership that God placed me under use because it operates under a kingdom anointing following kingdom principles that gets results.

In the Old Testament, wealth was measured largely in livestock through the examples of the patriarchs Abraham in Genesis 13:2, Isaac in Genesis 26:12-14, and Jacob in Genesis 30:43; 32:5. Wealth was also measured in terms of land, houses, servants, slaves, and precious metals. King Solomon is our prime example in I Kings 10:14-29.
God told Abraham in Genesis 12:1, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will show thee:
And I will make thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shall be a blessing:
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall ALL families of the earth be blessed.

Here you see temporal blessings Genesis 13:2, 24:35, spiritual blessings, fame, and future generations benefiting from Abraham’s blessings. We, the children of God are beneficiaries of Abraham’s blessings. You just have to position yourself to receive it. God has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. Psalm 35:27 The Bible is full of scriptures on prosperity and wealth. We should not possess a negative attitude towards prosperous people but learn from them so that you too can become a powerful resource for building the kingdom of God here on earth.

Every promise is attainable but here is the key. The key is obedience. The Bible says in Job 36:11 that if we obey and serve God that we shall spend our days in prosperity, and our years in pleasures.

People bicker, they complain, they hate on prosperity when all they need to do is come out of their carnal selves and into the marvelous Light so that the blindfolds will come off and the eyes of their understanding become open to all the time they’ve wasted persecuting God’s children for walking in abundance. All of that negative energy could have been spent on uniting together to learn how to become empowered people like God commanded us to become through Adam and Eve. Come into the marvelous Light so that you may understand that God ordained wealth for generational purposes, to help bring others out of poverty and for the upbuilding of His kingdom in the earth. He places wealth upon those who walk in his ways and obey his commands. Obedience, my friend, brings an overflow of abundance into their lives. God opens the windows of heaven and pour out blessings you have no room to store. He will fill your barns. Hello.
It’s not a sin to be rich. The sin is when you are rich and selfish and no one is getting fat but you. The sin is when you neglect the welfare of others and you neglect the storehouse.

Has it even registered in anyone’s mind that we are the seed of Abraham. When God was talking to Abram, he had the 21st Century generation and beyond in mind. The same promises to Abram pertain to us. Today, when that seed gets blessed beyond measure there is a bunch who have a hissy fit. These are they who walk in carnality. The problem is they don’t know who they are. The Bible confirms in Galatians 3:6-9, that we are the seed of Abraham. Those who walk in the Spirit will rejoice over those who walk in abundance and will humble themselves and learn from them.

And the Lord has blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he has given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses. Genesis 24:35. Genesis 13:2

It is the same as saying the Lord has blessed my pastor, or leader greatly; and he is become great: and he has given him spiritual and material wealth and love offerings. Is there something wrong with that? No. This is the wealth of Abraham from God. According to John 3:27, a man can receive nothing except it be given him from heaven. Wealth and prosperity originates from God, to Abraham, and on to his seed—you and I.

God adds no sorrow to a person being spiritually and materially blessed. Who does? Man adds anxiety and trouble to those who possess it. We already know that the world system has a problem with it. The world system doesn’t care about God and a prosperous church. Like the antichrist, it makes war with the church and wants to control the church. Support your spiritual leaders who come under attack. Come out of Egypt. Grab a hold of what the word of God says about you and believe it. You have abundance, thanks to Christ and the works of the cross. You are heirs of Abraham. You are Abraham’s children. Abraham’s children are not poor. The Bible says Abraham believed God. He took God at His word. You, do the same.
Riches and more riches to you.

Prayer

Dear God,

I repent this day for being ignorant to the covenant You made to your servant Abraham. I repent for not being a better steward of my physical and spiritual being. I repent for not being a good steward of my finances. I curse the spirit of hate toward others who are spiritually, physically, and materially prosperous. I ask you to take off the blinders and open up my eyes of understanding to your will and purpose concerning health and prosperity. Forgive me for holding on to Egypt. I ask you to deliver me from the mindset I have concerning riches and for settling for less than God’s best for me. Restore me back to the covenant promise you made with Father Abraham. Connect me to the sources that can prepare me to become the empowered person you ordained me to be.

I choose this day to walk in the truth of your word concerning health and prosperity. I understand the wealth you ordained for me is a gift from you. I understand that it is not for me alone and that it is for the upbuilding of your kingdom. It is for the poor, homeless, less unfortunate. I understand that if I neglect the above that you, the Giver can also fulfill the role of Taker.
I am the seed of Abraham, the rightful heir to your Throne. The promises in You are yea and I am highly favored of the Lord.

 Amen.
